Loma Rica Ranch Organic Farm
Grass Valley, CA
The plan for the Loma Rica Ranch Traditional Neighborhoods sets aside
up to 47 acres around the historic ranch buildings that will
be preserved to form the focal point of the Ranch Center Neighborhood.
As the buildings are adaptively reused and new buildings near
the center are built, the agricultural character and presence
of the ranch will be enhanced.
The Organic Farm is a cornucopia of carefully selected rare
and heirloom orchard trees, vegetables and berries, as well
as beautiful gardens to stroll or relax in.
Many of the existing buildings, including the horse
barns and the Ranch House, are being adaptively reused, and
new buildings will be built to complete the center. The theme
will be that of small, local, ag-related and artisan related
uses and products. These uses may include a restaurant specializing
in organic and natural foods within the Ranch House, a culinary
school, a growers’ market
within the barns, a wine shop specializing in wines from local vintners, a country
store that sells local products such as jams, jellies, breads
and cheeses, spaces for local artists to create and display their work,
live-work spaces for artisans and other neighborhood-serving retail.
The Organic Farm will be home to seasonal celebrations. These
events will include a Harvest Festival and Yule Festival among others.
