Boutique Downtown Hotel and Residences
Ventura, California

Project: This project utilizes a prominent, partially-vacant, lot in the heart of downtown Ventura to integrate a boutique hotel, residences, and retail and commercial uses. The scheme establishes a framework with a mid-block pedestrian paseo and a series of courtyards. These public spaces will create a strong brand/identity for the hotel and commercial uses and maximize the value through this strong sense of place.

The entry from Poli street greets guests with expansive views to the south framed by the edge of the courtyard. There are several courtyards of varying size that become unique addresses within the hotel itself. A rooftop pool provides a private experience with 270 degrees of unimpeded views.

The Paseo draws pedestrians in from North Oak Street with a vibrant and visually appealing atmosphere. A tower anchors the Paseo as it hinges south toward East Main Street.

Program: The project is anchored by a 52-room boutique hotel that takes advantage of prominent ocean views due to its hillside location. The ground-level streets and paseos are activated with 19,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and the upper floors contain 38,000 square feet of residential uses.
