Opticos Completes Successful LIvermore Code Update Charrette

On January 15th, Opticos completed the four-day Livermore Code Update charrette. A charrette is a multi-day collaborative design and planning workshop held on-site and inclusive of all affected stakeholders. During this time a multidisciplinary team including planners, architects, and engineers collaborated with citizens, city staff and city officials to help bring forth a vision for designated focus areas that will help implement the goals of the General Plan through the Zoning Code Update process. The team setup a working studio that was open to the public at the Robert Livermore Community Center.

This project was made possible through a $300,000 grant from the Caltrans Community Based Transportation Planning Grant Program to update the Livermore Planning and Zoning Code. In 2007, City Council accepted the grant award and in 2008 City Council authorized a consultant contract and scope of work. Opticos Design, Inc. led the Visioning and Coding with Lisa Wise Consulting and Jacobson Wack providing planning expertise and Vanasse Hangen Brustlin providing transportation planning expertise
