Flagstaff's Development Code/FBC Public Review Draft Released

The City of Flagstaff, Arizona’s “Our Flagstaff: Development Code Update” Public Review Draft was released Monday August 30th.  This code is groundbreaking in several ways: 1. It simplifies a hard-to-understand and use performance-based zoning code; 2. It restructures the entire code to ultimately default to walkable urbanism; and, 3. It integrates sustainability within solar power, stormwater management, landscaping, and urban agricultural standards. This code is utilizes the rural to urban transect as the Organizing Principle and is based on the SmartCode framework that was in place in the City’s previously adopted TND Ordinance.
