Stefan Pellegrini Teaches Urban Design Studio in Japan

Principal Stefan Pellegrini was recently invited by the Architectural Institute of Japan to teach a ten-day urban design workshop in Karatsu, a small, 16th-century "castle-town" on Kyushu island in southwest Japan. The design studio involved graduate students in urban design from twelve universities, fifteen countries, and five continents, and focused on the revitalization of the central City. Organized as a charrette, the workshop sought to engage local residents and stakeholders, a methodology not widely used in Japan.
